ANKARA (A.A) - 12.07.2002 - International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF), which acts in Afghanistan under Turkey's command, will undertake training of Afghan bodyguards.
After negligence of bodyguards is revealed in the assassination against Afghan Vice-President and Public Works Minister Haji Abdul Qadir, ISAF offered a proposal to the Afghan officials to train bodyguards. The proposal was accepted by the Afghan officials.
In this respect, ISAF at the first stage plans to train four bodyguards from each ministry.
Assisting investigation process of the assassination, providing and preservation of security in the region are included within the mission area of ISAF.
ISAF which acts under Turkey's command, accepted to help investigation of the assassination upon the request of Afghan Head of State Hamid Karzai.
ISAF will cooperate with Afghan Interior and Justice Ministries and Intelligence units in this respect.
Preparation works of the investigation, which will be carried out within the scope of the tripartite committee, started according to a decision taken by Afghan Council of Ministers.
Officials said Afghan forces would capture and arrest the assassins, and that ISAF will control whether or not the investigation is made objectively and in line with the rules.
