Clinton: Such Crises Take Place In Every Government

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 09.07.2002 - Commenting on the latest political developments in Turkey, former U.S. President Bill Clinton said that such crises sometimes take place in every government.
Responding a question about the latest political developments, Clinton refrained from making a comment stating that he didn't know much about the issue.
Clinton said he hoped the crisis would be overcome and also successful people remain in their positions. ''Such crises sometimes take place in every government,'' he said.
Clinton remarked that he tried very hard to help Turkey join the EU during the time he served as the president. ''I believe that Turkey will join the EU. If Turks want to join the EU, they have to fulfill its conditions. I hope this happens. This will benefit the whole world. The decision is up to the Turkish people,'' he commented.
CLINTON VISITS SULTANAHMET AND HAGIA SOFIA
People applauded as Clinton came to Sultanahmet where he stayed for 20 minutes. Here, he was briefed about the mosque by the officials. Later, he walked to Hagia Sofia Museum as he greeted Turks and tourists by waving at them.
Clinton was surrounded by a large number of Turkish and American security guards when he walked to the museum.
