ANKARA (A.A) - 08.07.2002 - Husamettin Ozkan, who resigned from State Ministry, Deputy Prime Ministry and Democratic Left Party (DSP), met with some deputies at a dinner on Monday.
State Minister Hasan Gemici, Recep Onal and Istemihan Talay, who both resigned from the ministries, some deputies who resigned from DSP and some DSP deputies were in attendance at the meeting.
Responding to questions of reporters after the dinner, Akif Serin, a deputy from southern Mersin province who resigned from DSP, said that it was a dinner to boost morale.
Serin noted that everything would be better and said, ''we believe that new good days will be experiences with this new formation. Everything will become apparent in coming day.
Asked if State Minister Kemal Dervis and Foreign Minister Ismail Cem would be included in the new formation, Serin said that it was early to talk about this issue.
Serin stated that their formula was a formula that everybody had longed for and said, ''we hope that this formula will make everybody happy because we want serve Turkey in a structure away from populism.''
Upon a question about the number of people in the new formation, Serin said that this number would reach almost 40.
When asked about what her decision was, Amasya deputy Gonul Saray Alphan, who also resigned from DSP the same day, said that her decision was very obvious and noted, ''young, dynamic and democratic deputies undertake historic duties. And, we are trying to fulfil these duties.''
Erol Al, a deputy of DSP from Istanbul, said, ''I have not resigned from my party and I do not think of resignation.''
Ozkan said that he would not make any evaluation while Ali Iliksoy refrained from announcing the number of the participants of the dinner.
Upon a question, Recep Onal said, ''as far as I am concerned, Husamettin Ozkan and Kemal Dervis can meet at a luncheon or dinner tomorrow.''
Deputy Abdulsamet Turgut from southeastern Diyarbakir province said that they had taken steps to pave the way for Turkey.
