Talay Resigns From His Post And D.S.P.

ANKARA (A.A) - 08.07.2002 - Culture Minister Istemihan Talay announced his resignation from his post as a Culture Minister and from his party Democratic Left Party (DSP) on Monday afternoon.
In his letter to Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, Talay wrote ''Recently, certain statements have been made targetting myself, Husamettin Ozkan, our ministers and deputies. I regarded these statements minor things and I continued my duties as a culture minister with a sense of responsibility. However, from the statements that you made on CNN Turk on 7.7.2002, I found out that you are not bothered by this baseless and destructive campaign of the DSP headquarters and you even share some of these views. I'm disappointed by the fact that you respect these small party scenerios at the DSP headquarters. Thereby, I would like to inform you that I am resigning from the DSP and my post as a culture minister because of the lack of trust I feel for the DSP headquarters and for you.''
Talay served as a culture minister in the 55th, 56th and 57th governments. He is married and has two children.
