LEFKOSA (A.A) - 06.07.2002 - Turkish Cypriot soccer player Sabri Selvi Selden who went to the Greek Cypriot side last April without getting permission from the Turkish Cypriot of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) officials returned to the TRNC with his family on Sunday morning because he was very homesick.
Selvi told reporters at his home that he left for the Greek Cypriot side because of professional reasons and he also received good offers.
''I was very homesick. I missed my friends, my home, my bed, my everything. My mother was also crying all the time though she tried to hide it from me,'' Selden said.
He didn't tell his decision to return home to other team players and soccer club executives in the Greek Cypriot side thinking that they might prevent him from doing that.
Selden thanked Binatli Club former Chairman Ozel Tahsin for helping him to come back home and also TRNC President Rauf Denktas for his understanding.
Tahsin said he was very happy about Selden's return. ''He was offered financially good conditions but he took the right decision by realizing that that was not enough for happiness.''
