Turkish - Armenian Compromise Commission To Convene In Bodrum

YEREVAN (A.A) – 04.07.2002 – Turkish-Armenian Compromise Commission will convene in Bodrum township of western province of Mugla between July 11 and 13.
Yerevan State University Rector David Ovanisyan said that many issues would be discussed at the meeting.
''Having regard to the past and the present developments, we can maintain our cooperation. In order to achieve this, we should fulfill some conditions,'' he said.
Noting that there had been important developments in relations between Turkey and Armenia, Ovanisyan said, ''this is the positive results of works carried out by the Compromise Commission.''
Referring to the meeting between Turkish and Armenian foreign ministers during the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Summit in Istanbul, Ovanisyan said that such meetings strengthened security of countries.
The commission is formed by Turkish and Armenian retired diplomats, former statesmen and academicians.
Armenian members of the commission had earlier withdrawn on the pretext that Ankara insisted on not to recognize so-called genocide.
