Economic And Trade Relations Between Turkey And Iraq Improved

BAGHDAD (A.A) - 03.07.2002 - State Minister Edip Safter Gaydali said on Wednesday that economic and trade relations between Turkey and Iraq developed in the recent period.
Speaking to Al-Cumhuriye Newspaper, which is the official organ of the Iraqi government, Gaydali said he held positive contacts with the Iraqi officials to further improve economic and trade cooperation.
Gaydali said trade volume will also increase.
Pointing out that trade volume between the two countries was more than 1.2 billion U.S. dollars, Gaydali said, ''we will be in an effort to increase the trade volume for the benefit of the two friendly countries.''
Gaydali said the Turkish companies were ready to carry out joint projects in Iraq in industry, trade, transportation and communication.
Gaydali said they would discuss a project pertaining to transportation of natural gas from Iraq to Europe via Turkey during the ongoing 14th JEC meetings.
Gaydali said they would also search for ways to link Iraq, Syria and Turkey to each other, and search for facilities for Turkey to make transit trade to Arab Gulf countries in Iraq-Saudi Arabia Arar border gate.
Gaydali and the accompanying delegation are expected to meet Iraqi ministers of oil, interior, and trade.
