BITTER FACTS ABOUT ECEVIT'S HEALTH
Emin Colasan, one of columnists of the Hurriyet, got extremely important information about Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit's health. According to medical reports, brain, heart, kidney and liver activities of Prime Minister Ecevit are normal. His blood tests are also normal. Now, the bitter facts: He is 78 years old while his wife Rahsan Ecevit is 81 years old. They do not accept anyone to cook and to clean up for themselves. And, they do not want doctors to come their home. Mrs. Ecevit has also some health problems. Therefore, she cannot take care of her husband. As a result, Prime Minister Ecevit cannot take his medicines on right time. But the most important thing is that medical tests showed Prime Minister Ecevit had been starving. He has been suffering from malnutrition.

NO ELECTIONS
Leaders of three political parties forming the coalition government came together for the first time in 41 days. During the meeting, coalition partners decided that all government affairs including meetings of Council of Ministers, should be carried out whether or not Prime Minister Ecevit cannot attend due to his health problems. Addressing journalists following the meeting, Prime Minister Ecevit said, ''the government emphasized that it absolutely does not want early elections and that this government needs to remain in charge until April 2004.''

SIVAS ON ALERT ON JULY 2
Security forces have been put on alert in central province of Sivas on the 9th anniversary of incidents in which 37 people were killed when Madimak Hotel was set on fire on July 2, 1993. A ceremony will be held in Sivas to commemorate victims of these incident. Representatives of Confederation of Public Employees Labor Unions (KESK), non-governmental organizations and Pir Sultan Abdal Association will attend the ceremony.

COMMEMORATIVE COINS MINTED IN NATIONAL TEAM'S HONOR
The Mint and Stamp Printing House Directorate General minted commemorative coins in the National Team's honor to eternize their ''third best team'' place in the World Cup finals. The 925-karats silver coins have a red and white color Turkish flag enameled on it.

DREAMS COME TO AN END
Turkey woke up from the dream of World Cup. Coalition partners convened under the shadow of early elections. However, coalition partner's first meeting in more than 40 days did not yield any result. While the European Union (EU) noted it would not set a date for beginning of full membership negotiations till Turkey fulfilled all political criteria, coalition partners decided not to hold elections before April of 2004.

HERE IS GREEK HUMAN SMUGGLER
Security forces captured 76 foreigners in a Greek-flagged yacht off Ozdere hamlet in Menderes township of western province of Izmir. Security forces warned the ''Ocean 5'' yacht to stop immediately. They intercepted 76 foreigners of Chinese, Pakistani, Afghan, Syrian and Palestinian origin. There were three women among the foreigners. Captain of the yacht was detained, and foreigners were taken to Kusadasi.

A TOTAL OF 1.8 MILLION TOURISTS VISIT ANTALYA
A total of 1 million 834 thousand 339 foreign tourists came to southern Antalya province in the first six months of 2002. Meanwhile, number of foreign tourists who came to Antalya on June 30 reached 31 thousand 788. 28 thousand 217 tourists came to Antalya by plane on June 23, and 31 thousand 788 tourists arrived in Antalya Airport on June 30.

EXPORTS FROM TURKEY RISE 5.9 PERCENT IN FIRST HALF OF 2002
Exports from Turkey increased by 5.9 percent in the first half of the year and rose by 5.1 percent in June 2002. According to statistics of Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM), exports from Turkey increased 5.1 percent to 2 billion 751 million 403 thousand U.S. dollars in June 2002 when compared to the same month of 2001. Total exports from Turkey increased 5.9 percent to 16 billion 129 million 470 million U.S. dollars in the first six months of 2002 when compared to the same period of last year.

SECURITY MEASURES TIGHTENED IN INCIRLIK AIR BASE
Acting on an information that terrorist attacks could be staged on the military bases and representations of the United States on July 4, officials have tightened measure in the U.S. Consulate General in southern province of Adana, and at the Incirlik Air Base.

SOKMENOGLU: ''WE WILL NOT MAKE ANY CONCESSIONS''
Deputy Parliament Speaker Murat Sokmenoglu criticized Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and other coalition partners. He said that Turkey had faced a deadlock. He stressed that the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) would not make any concessions about broadcasting and education in mother tongue.

A CEREMONY TO BE HELD TO COMMEMORATE VICTIMS OF SIVAS INCIDENTS
Victims of incidents in central province of Sivas on July 2, 1993, will be commemorated in a ceremony to be held in front of Madimak Hotel. A total of 37 people were killed when Madimak Hotel was set on fire by dark forces. Representatives of Confederation of Public Employees Labor Unions (KESK), non-governmental organizations and Pir Sultan Abdal Association will attend the ceremony.

A SUMMIT MEETING OF NOTHING
Leaders of three political parties forming the coalition government came together for the first time in 41 days. During the meeting, the leaders have taken the expected decisions. Elections will not be held before April of 2004. Meanwhile, works about the European Union (EU) will not affect future of the government. The Council of Ministers will convene whether or not Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit attends.

WORKING GROUP CANNOT WORK
The Democratic Left Party (DSP) and the Motherland Party (ANAP) have formed a working group. The group will carry out adjustment works with the European Union (EU) including abolishment of death penalty. However, DSP and ANAP needs majority at the parliament to adopt these laws since the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) does not approve abolishment of death penalty. The groups waits for the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and True Path Party (DYP) to start its works.

IRAN SUPPORTS ILLEGAL ORGANIZATIONS
Iran has been continuing to support terrorist organizations. During the operations against terrorist Tevhid organization which was involved in the killing of Prof. Dr. Bahriye Ucok, 30 people were captured. Also, it was revealed that terrorist Tevhid organization was aiming at increasing number of its members by using the methods of propaganda.

PLATINI EULOGIZES TURKISH NATIONAL TEAM
Michael Platine, one of the legendary soccer players of France, eulogized Turkish national team which was ranked third in the World Cup. Platini said that Brazilian and Turkish teams had played the most technical matches of the World Cup. Meanwhile, the Izvestiya Newspaper of Russia said that Turkey and Korea had played the most friendly match of the history.

During yesterday's meeting among leaders of three political parties forming the coalition government, success of the national football team in the World Cup was taken up.
