ANKARA (A.A) - 01.07.2002 - Deputy Parliament Speaker Murat Sokmenoglu said on Monday that if an agreement was reached on education and broadcasting in Kurdish with parties outside the coalition, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) would not remain in the coalition.
In his meeting with Socialist Democratic People's Party (SHP) leader Murat Karayalcin, Sokmenoglu noted that the parliament had passed important laws, and added, ''if an agreement is reached with the opposition, the parliament will convene extraordinarily about the death sentence. The parliament will do what is necessary. However, the MHP has a clear attitude towards education and broadcasting in Kurdish. If an agreement is reached with parties outside the coalition government, the MHP will not remain in the coalition in the following term.''
