ISTANBUL (A.A) - 01.07.2002 - National football team, which was ranked the third in the World Cup, returned to Turkey on Sunday.
The airplane carrying State Minister Fikret Unlu for Youth and Sports, Football Federation Chairman Haluk Ulusoy, members of Football Federation Executive Board, technical delegation and players landed at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport at 09:14 p.m.
A number of people gathered at the Ataturk Airport to welcome the national team.
Later, a welcoming ceremony took place in Istanbul's Taksim Square.
Thousands of people carrying flags and flowers in their hands chanted slogans to welcome the national team.
