ANKARA (A.A) - 25.06.2002 - The U.S. President George W. Bush on Tuesday sent a letter to Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and expressed the gratitude of his country for Turkey over its bold decision to take over the command of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul.
Bush sent a letter to Premier Ecevit on June 21, 2002. In his letter Bush said the United States was grateful to Turkey over its bold decision to undertake the command of ISAF in Kabul.
Bush said they also participate in the strong support of the international community for this assignment of Turkey, stressing that the United States would continue its close works with your government and the other participating nations aiming to provide the success of ISAF under the leadership of Turkey.
In the letter Bush said Turkey's participation and leadership in fight against terrorism deepens strategic cooperation between our countries and at the same time provides the Moslems in the world an example of a modern and secular democracy which is full of hope.
