Cem Meets With Oskanyan

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 25.06.2002 - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem and Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan came together in Istanbul early on Tuesday.
Sources said that the meeting which lasted nearly 45 minutes was held under the ''trilateral format'' that had been initiated in Reykjavik.
The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, and that yesterday's meeting between Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev and Minsk Group co-chairman proved that the process started in Reykjavik was continuing, sources said.
Officials said that the meeting between Cem and Oskanyan was held under the trilateral format that had been initiated in Reykjavik for stability and peace in southern Caucasus including problems between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President's Foreign Policy Advisor Nevruz Mamedov told the A.A correspondent that issues about holding a tete-a-tete meeting between Aliyev and Robert Kocharian in process of seeking soluting to Karabakh problem had been discussed both in Cem-Oskanyan meeting and in the meeting between Aliyev and Minsk Group co-chairmen.
Mamedov said this meeting would be held but works were underway to set its date.
Last meeting between Aliyev and Kocharian was held in the United States in April of 2001.
