WE HAVE UNITED AGAIN, NOW IT IS PARLIAMENT'S TURN
The victory of the Turkish national football team united everybody. Now, it is parliament's turn to unite for Turkey's targets. Turkey, which is experiencing a very critical process in the path of the European Union (EU), expects the same spirit to prevail in the parliament. People want the parliament to unite around this single target and pave the way for Europe.
FOREIGN CAPITAL EXAMINATION ON JULY 18
High-level administrators of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and 20 international companies will evaluate the investment environment in Turkey on July 18. World Bank President James Wolfensohn is also expected to attend the meeting. Turkey, which continues legal preparations to pave the way for foreign capital, will hold a meeting in July. Turkey, which has accelerated its efforts to attract foreign capital, is getting prepared for the meeting of the Investment Environment Council after it presented the bill on foreign capital to the parliament.

IRRESPONSIBLE JOY
The Directorate General of Security said that a total of 24 persons were injured when people opened fire in the air at random to celebrate victory of Turkish national football team in the 17th World Cup quarter-final against Senegal. During the celebrations, 11 traffic accients occurred in which 16 people were killed and 70 others were injured.
NOAH'S ART TO BE RECONSTRUCTED ON AGRI MOUNTAIN
Tourism Minister Mustafa Tasar said that a full-size model of Noah's Ark would be constructed near Kup Lake in Agri Mountain. Vessel-shaped facility will include a museum, a conference hall, a library, a hotel of 500 beds and restaurants. Tasar added that the touristic facility would be constructed by Igdir Governor's Office.
ARGENTINE INTERNATIONAL MIDFIELDER ORTEGA ARRIVES IN ISTANBUL
Argentine international midfielder Ariel Ortega who moved from River Plate to Fenerbahce arrived in Istanbul. Nearly 1,500 Fenerbahce fans greeted Ortega at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

TERRORIST THREAT ON YILMAZ
A woman militant who came beside Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz wanted to give him an envelope. When Yilmaz refused to take the envelope, she said, ''we will blow your head up.'' When Yilmaz was getting prepared for a dinner in Conrad Hotel, a woman wearing the clothes of a waitress approached to the table for the protocol. Yilmaz asked the identity of the woman around 20-25 who wanted to give him a letter and received the answer, ''I am a member of the DHKP-C.'' Yilmaz, then said, ''you are a terrorist'' and refused to take the letter. The militant who said, ''we are terrorist according to you. We are in fact revolutionists'' was taken outside the hotel. When she was being taken out of the hotel, the terrorist made threats.
''VIEW TOWARDS EU'' CONFERENCE FROM TESEV
Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) completed its survey on ''the view of the Turkish people towards European Union (EU).'' TESEV will announce the result of its survey at a conference which will start at 9.30 a.m. at Ankara Sheraton Hotel on June 28. Officials of the foundation said that Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, Felicity Party (SP) leader Recai Kutan, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Democratic Turkey Party (DTP) leader Mehmet Ali Bayar would attend the conference.

HEAVY BURDEN BECAUSE OF INCREASING POPULATION
World Bank statistics revealed that although Turkey provided more rapid increases in exports, imports and national income than Spain, Portugal and Greece, which became full members of the European Union (EU) in 1980s, it cannot reflect this development in prosperity level of people due to high rate of population increase.
DYP SUPPORTS EDUCATION IN KURDISH
True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller said, ''the DYP has been defending that Turkish language is the only language in education system in Turkey. Any language except for Turkish cannot be education language in Turkey. However people can be granted the right to learn their mother tongues in private schools and specialized courses. We should not confuse the concepts of right of education with education language. Education language is Turkish. It is beyond all discussions. As for right of education, private schools can be established to teach people their mother tongues.''
YUCELEN: ''WE WILL HEAL WOUNDS OF FLOOD DISASTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE''
Interior Minister Rustu Kazim Yucelen said that they would heal wounds of the flood disaster in Black Sea Region as soon as possible. Yucelen visited flood-hit regions in northern province of Giresun. Governor Ali Haydar Oner of Giresun informed Yucelen on effects of the flood disaster. Speaking at the meeting, Yucelen said, ''Directorate General of Civil Defense has been informing me on recent developments in the Black Sea Region. We will heal wounds of the flood disaster as soon as possible. Later, we will remove the damage in infrastructure. We will allocate 250 billion Turkish liras for our people affected from the flood disaster.''

CEM: ''FIRSTLY THE GOVERNMENT''
Foreign Minister Ismail Cem, who did not want the deterioration of the government for the European Union (EU), said, ''a new parliament which will be formed after a new election will pass the reforms.'' Cem said that the EU train would not be missed, it would only be delayed if the reforms were delayed. Cem said, ''the government should not be damaged just because the reforms are not passed rapidly. Such a thing will cost too much for Turkey. Our economy can be harmed.''
LAST TOURS FOR DEATH SENTENCE
The last meetings on abolition of death sentence will be held at the parliament today. The Felicity Party (SP) and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will give a response to the proposal of the Democratic Left Party (DSP). The parliament will start its summer recess on July 1. The parliament will open on October 1. If no result is gained from the meetings, the parliament will start its summer holiday at the weekend. SP, which is positive towards abolition of death sentence, will put forth some proposals to shape up DSP's bill. DSP will try to convince AK Party in today's meeting.

WORLD PRESS TALKS ABOUT TURKEY
Greek press gave the headlines, ''Surprise of Century'' and ''Turks saddened us again'' when American Boston Globe wrote that those who did not take Turkey into consideration made mistake. Italian La Gazzetta dello Sport which praised Hasan Sas gave the headline, ''Never Such Turkey Was Seen'' and wrote that Turkey could not be stopped.
TOBB GOES TO BRUSSELS
A delegation of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in Turkey (TOBB) comprised of almost 200 people went to Belgian capital Brussels to lobby for Turkey's European Union (EU) full membership. Besides State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, State Minister Tunca Toskay, some deputies, businessmen, chairmen of chambers and commodity exchanges, representatives of non-governmental organizations and journalists took place in the delegation that will go to Belgium. A conference on progress Turkey has recorded towards EU membership will be held on June 25.

LUXURIOUS CONSUMPTION TAX ADVANTAGE DID NOT REFLECT TO AUTO PRICES
Luxurious Consumption Tax law which was put into effect for the second hand automobiles on June 12 did not reduce the prices of the automobiles. The prices of several models remained the same or increased. However, the motor vehicles purchasing tax which was paid during buying of second hand cars was lifted as the luxurious consumption tax was put into effect. However, car owners reflected this difference to the automobiles which they wanted to sell.
