We played the most splendid match in the World Cup finals. We became one of the four most powerful teams of the world. Turkey's victory in the World Cup quarter-final against Senegal sent millions of Turkish people all around the world out to the streets. Meanwhile, heads of state and government of member and candidate countries to the European Union (EU) congratulated President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in Seville, Spain.

PRESIDENT SEZER TO HOST BSEC SUMMIT MEETING
Following the summit meeting of the European Union (EU) in Seville, Spain, President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will host extraordinary summit meeting of heads of state and government of member countries to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). The summit meeting will be held in Istanbul on Tuesday. President Sezer will host a dinner in honor of his guests on Monday night.

RUMSFELD: ''WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH ASSISTANCE FOR ISAF''
U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said that the U.S. Congress would approve a source of 228 million U.S. dollars to be given to Turkey for its concrete support to fight against terrorism and its expenditures for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. ''I belive that Turkey will achieve a great success during its command of ISAF,'' he noted.

AVCI SAYS ECEVIT DOES NOT SUFFER ANOTHER BROKEN RIB
Prime Ministry Press Spokesman Cem Avci said that allegations saying that Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit was suffering another broken rib were totally baseless. Speaking to reporters, Avci said that Ecevit was resting upon the advise of Baskent University Hospital doctors. ''A newspaper claims that Ecevit suffered another broken rib was wrong. The Prime Minister is now resting upon advise of the Baskent University Hospital doctors. It has been affirmed during our meeting with his doctors that the Prime Minister is in good condition,'' Avci added.

BAHCELI RAISES HIS OBJECTION
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli, who also acts as the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), raised his objection to statements of True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller and State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, who also acts as the leader of the Motherland Party (ANAP), about broadcast and education in Kurdish language. ''They will want territories in the future. Then, our country will be separated,'' he added.

AK PARTY: ''EXECUTE SAKIK''
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy leader Sadik Yakut told members of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) who want to transfer file of Abdullah Ocalan, the head of terrorist organization PKK (KADEK) to the parliament, ''if you have enough courage, execute death sentence of Semdin Sakik whose file has already been sent to the parliament.''

YILMAZ: ''TURKEY WILL NOT RETURN WITHOUT WINNING WORLD CUP''
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz, who also acts as the leader of the Motherland Party (ANAP), said that Turkish national football team will beat Brazil in the semi-final. He stressed that the national team would not return to Turkey without winning the World Cup.

NSC TO CONVENE NEXT WEEK
The National Security Council (NSC) will convene next week under the chairmanship of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. The meeting is expected to focus on border trade. Reports saying that border trade turned into smuggling from time to time, and became an important source for terrorist organization will be discussed at the meeting.

TREASURY TO HOLD TWO BOND AUCTIONS ON TUESDAY
Treasury will hold 133-day and 196-day bond auctions on June 25. The value date of those bonds will be June 26, and the maturity of 133-day bonds will be November 2002 and the maturity of 196-day bonds will be January 8, 2003.

EU TO TAKE ITS DECISION ABOUT TURKEY IN COPENHAGEN
The final statement was released at the end of the summit meeting of heads of state and government of member countries to the European Union (EU) in Seville, Spain. In the Turkey part of the final statement, the EU expresses its satisfaction over reforms made by Turkey. 'The implementation of the requried political and economic reforms will bring forward Turkey's prospects of accession in accordance with the same principles and critera as are applied to the other candidate countries,'' it says. The final statement notes, ''new decisions could be taken in Copenhangen on the next stage of Turkey's candidacy in the light of developments in the situation between the Seville and Copenhagen, and on the basis of the regular reports to be submitted by the commission in October 2002.''

SECURITY FORCES CAPTURE 27 FOREIGNERS
Security forces captured 27 foreigners of Palestinian and Iraqi origin hidden in secret parts of a truck at the Ipsala Border Gate in northwestern province of Edirne as they were trying to proceed to Greece illegally. The foreigners including four women and three children were taken into custody for violating Turkish borders and passport law. They will be deported once the legal proceedings are completed.

ECEVIT SAYS TURKISH FOOTBALL NOW CAN'T BE SATISFIED WITH SEMIFINAL
Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that Turkish football would reach the final point at the World Cup, stressing that Turkish football now could not be satisfied with semifinal. Speaking to the TRT-1 television channel on the phone, Ecevit evaluated Turkey's 1-0 victory against Senegal in the quarterfinal. Noting that this victory honored the Turkish nation, Ecevit thanked technical staff and footballers. ''This will not be the last success of our football players and they will reach the final point. I wish them success,'' Ecevit added.

GOAL JOY IN SEVILLE
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said that only one match remaining in front of Turkey for World Cup final game, and he would go to Japan to watch the final if Turkey beat Brazil in the semifinal on Wednesday. Sezer held a press conference after attending the working lunch with heads of state and government of European Union (EU) members and candidate countries. Recalling that he had had the opportunity of watching the first 25 minutes of the quarterfinal between Turkey and Senegal, Sezer said that during this period, Turkey had missed three goal opportunities. Noting that heads of states and governments of EU member and candidate states had congratulated him for Turkey's victory, Sezer said, ''I congratulate our technical staff and players. Turkey for the first time reached last four, that is, Turkey is one of the four biggest teams in the world.''

Coach Senol Gunes who was exposed to unbelievable criticisms since the beginning of the World Cup finals cried in delight after Ilhan Maniz's golden goal against Senegal. Gunes said, ''I wanted my footballers to play extraordinarily and they did it. The only mistake was their leaving the match to extra time. The third or fourth place does not befit us. We will settle old scores with Brazil. We will beat them and play the final and wing the cup. Because this is the mission that the Turkish nation charged us with.''
