WASHINGTON D.C. (A.A) - 20.06.2002 - U.S. Treasury Department Undersecretary John Taylor said on Thursday that they welcomed recent arrangements in banking system in Turkey.
Releasing a statement, Taylor said that they welcomed determined actions of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) .
Describing these actions as critical steps to provide capital for private banking system, Taylor said that they were sign of Turkey's determination to implement the economic programme.
Earlier, International Monetary Fund (IMF) European I Department Director Michael Deppler said that they welcomed the BRSA's decisions about Pamukbank and Yapi Kredi Bankasi.
The BRSA announced yesterday that the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) undertook Pamukbank's management and control.
