Sezer Congratulates Karzai For Being Elected As Afghan President

ANKARA (A.A) - 16.06.2002 - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer congratulated interim leader Hamid Karzai who was elected on Saturday as the Afghan President by the Loya Jirga grand assembly.
Sezer said in a statement on Sunday that he would like to congratulate Karzai for being elected as the Afghan President.
He stated that Turkey would also continue its contributions to Afghanistan's rebuilding efforts from now on with friendly ties between the two countries.
President Sezer stressed that Turkey would support interim government in Afghanistan's permanent peace and stabilization efforts within the framework of International Security Aid Force (ISAF) leadership which Turkey would take over soon.
