More Than 300 Turkish Businessmen Due To Iraq

ANKARA (A.A) - 14.06.2002 - Businessmen have been showing great interest in Turkey's strategy aiming at further improving commercial relations with neighboring countries.
Foreign Trade Undersecretariat (DTM) officials told A.A correspondent on Friday that a visit would be organized to Iraq for businessmen in parallel with the 14th term meeting of Turkey-Iraq Joint Economic Commission between June 29 and July 4, 2002.
More than 300 businessmen will join the visit.
State Minister Edip Safter Gaydali will head Turkish delegation at the 14th term meeting of Turkey-Iraq Joint Economic Commission.
Exports from Turkey to Iraq were 215 million U.S. dollars in 1990, 549 million U.S. dollars in 1997, 366 million U.S. dollars in 1998, 247 million U.S. dollars in 1999, 371 million U.S. dollars in 2000, and 709.6 million U.S. dollars in 2001.
Within the framework of the United Nations' sanctions on Iraq, Turkish firms signed more than 800 contracts with Iraq worth of 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, DTM's visit to Iran that was scheduled to be paid between June 21 and 28, was postponed.
