ANKARA (A.A) - 12.06.2002 - Finance Minister Sumer Oral said on Wednesday that the non-interest budget surplus which was the most important factor of the economic programme had increased over to 8.9 quadrillion Turkish liras (TL) in May, exceeding the target again.
Releasing a statement on budget performance as of end of May, Oral said that the budget was in a course in line with the targets of the programme.
Noting that the budget income in first five months had been 29 quadrillion 856 trillion TL including 21 quadrillion 31 trillion TL of tax income, Oral said that the budget expenditures excluding the interest had been 20 quadrillion 889 trillion TL in the same period.
Oral explained that the the non-interest budget surplus had been 8 quadrillion 967 trillion TL in first five months.
The Finance Minister said that tax revenues had risen 56 percent in the January-May period of 2002 when compared to same period in 2001.
Stresing that the financial policy part of the programme continued successfully, Oral added that it was understood from those figures that the 15.9 quadrillion TL of non-interest budget surplus target at the end of 2002 was feasible.
