WASHINGTON D.C. (A.A) - 11.06.2002 - Turkey speeded up lobby activities in Washington D.C. to hold an international conference, pertaining to the Middle East, in its territories.
Diplomats in Washington D.C, who hold contacts in the U.S. State Department, National Security Council, White House and Pentagon, say Turkey would be a good host for the Middle East conference.
Turkish diplomats believe that Turkey's hosting the conference, which has close relations with Israel and Palestine, will play an important role in success of the conference.
It was reported that some other countries in Europe, mainly Italy, are willing to host an international conference on the issue of Middle East.
Japan also expressed willingness to host Middle East conference.
New reports which appeared in the United States, pointed out that the U.S. President George Bush supported the idea to hold the conference in Turkey.
