ALMATY (A.A) - 04.06.2002 - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Tuesday that the meeting on European Union (EU) with participation of leaders of all political parties at the parliament would be held at the Presidential Palace on June 7 in any case.
President Sezer answered questions of reporters following the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in Kazakh capital Almaty.
When asked whether or not the meeting at the palace would be held if any of those leaders would not come, Sezer said, ''the meeting will be held in any case. I hope that all leaders would attend it.''
When asked whether or not Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit had told hem that he would participate in the meeting, President Sezer said, ''he has not announced that he would attend, but in the television, I watched him saying he would try to attend the meeting.''
Responding another question, Sezer said he had invited neither a Democratic Left Party (DSP) representative nor Foreign Minister Ismail Cem to the meeting.
The President said he had invited Turkey's Secretary General for EU Volkan Vural to make a technical presentation.
When asked what he thought about True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller's statement, Sezer said, ''you should better ask this to her.''
Ciller said yesterday that she will not attend the meeting if Ecevit does not come to the meeting.
