Bahceli: Ecevit In Office

ANKARA (A.A) - 03.06.2002 - Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Devlet Bahceli said on Sunday that Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit was currently in the office.
Bahceli, who returned from China, told reporters at the airport that there was not any administrative vacuum in Turkey.
Devlet Bahceli noted that he did not find discussions on Ecevit's health and the administration right in respect of political ethics and hoped Ecevit to recover in the possible shortest time.
It was Ecevit who would give a decision about being in the office according to his health condition, Bahceli stated.
Bahceli added that there should not be any pressure from outside or any other attempt under the current conditions.
BAHCELI: ''ECHR'S DECISION REGARDING OCALAN WILL NO WAY AFFECT THE EXECUTION PROCESS''
Bahceli said that the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding Abdullah Ocalan, the head of the terrorist organization, would no way affect the execution process.
Bahceli told reporters at the airport that he had earlier expressed his views about the minimum elements necessary to end terrorism danger in Turkey.
''This objective evaluation which cannot be denied by anybody led to the reaction of some circles,'' Bahceli said. Bahceli claimed that some circles who were the voluntary advocates of the EU would oppose to those objective evaluations before circles which supported the EU and the terrorist organization.
This was not a situation which could be considered as very natural, Bahceli said.
Bahceli noted that his statements about the execution process of Ocalan were wanted to be destroyed or were subject to mis-evaluations made in a hurry and without any researches.
Evaluations depending on cliche slogans were made, Bahceli stated.
Bahceli said that some circles which were unaware of basic information about this issue expressed views in the name of a historic mission they had undertaken by themselves.
''Points of view in which personal interests were made are tried to be shown as absolute truth,'' Bahceli noted.
Bahceli noted, ''what we are saying is this: The execution file of the head terrorist which is waiting at the Prime Ministry today should be sent to the parliament after the process launched by an application to ECHR ends and the court announces its verdict. ECHR's decision will no way affect the execution process which is subject to the will of the parliament and the verdict of the national court of Turkey. This is the decision taken at the leaders' summit on January 12, 2000.''
''We once more reminded this. The point of view of MHP about this issue is obvious. Our concerns and sensitivities about our national unity, including the ending of the terrorist threat, was once more voiced in our press conference in Beijing,'' Bahceli said.
Bahceli stated, ''everybody, particularly political parties, undertakes important responsibilities regarding these issues. Normally and naturally, political parties should do what they think is right and what they believe as beneficial for Turkey in line with their own philosophies. What is not normal and natural is that the political parties refrain from doing what they believe to be right, that they try to set their positions according to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and try to accuse MHP for this.''
He also expressed his views about Turkey-European Union (EU) relations at the press conference held in Beijing on May 28, Bahceli said.
Bahceli stated that his statements were closely followed both in Turkey and China and went on saying, ''I held that press conference on the third anniversary of formation of the government. I evaluated Turkey-EU relations in this context. Expressing our views when we were in Beijing cannot be found as strange. What is important is the words that are said, not where they are said.''
Relations with EU had become a noisy campaign for some time, Bahceli said. He noted that discussions on this issue were not made on a basis of realities and truth.
Bahceli stated that Turkey's long term interests were tried to be made a tool for unproductive political interests and said that realities were tried to be hidden from Turkish people by ''motivated discussions.''
The public was tried to be directed in such an environment, Bahceli said.
Bahceli noted that this attitude assumed towards such a vital issue concerning future of Turkey was very saddening.
''It is true that we are at a separation of path as some others say. Everybody should determine his or her path and direction well,'' Bahceli added.
