Denktas: State Can't Be Given Up For Peace

GIRNE (A.A) - 02.06.2002 - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Saturday that the state could not be given up only for making peace.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the Girne American University, Denktas said, ''peace does not come to those who say 'we want peace' and the state can't be given up only for making peace. And an agreement which disappears in five years is not signed only for making peace.''
Meanwhile, TRNC Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu said that the civilized world had not seen the Turkish Cypriots' existence for thirty-nine years but universities in the TRNC opened a door to the world.
Stressing that the TRNC had the conditions of being a state, Eroglu said that solution in Cyprus depended on true diagnosis which was depended on principle of two states.
