ISTANBUL (A.A) - 02.06.2002 - Nature Warriors Environment Organization members protested on Sunday passage of tankers carrying hazardous substances from the Turkish Straits.
Nature Warriors members who came to the Steamer Quay in Besiktas district of Istanbul with balloons in their hands unfurled a banner which said, ''My God, tanker is coming''.
The organization's chiarman Zafer Murat Cetintas said that tankers carrying hazardous substances endangered the Turkish Straits.
Defending that historical assets of Istanbul would be destroyed if an oil tanker exploded while it was crossing the Straits, Cetintas said that tankers carrying hazardous substances like LPG should not be allowed to pass the Straits.
