IZMIR (A.A) - Oger Tour Chairman Vural Oger has said that he was expecting a rise in the number of German tourists visiting Turkey.
Oger told the A.A that according to a survey conducted by the Munich Tourism Research Institute about seven million Germans want to visit Turkey this year. Last year, only three million Germans visited Turkey.
Pointing to the 40 percent increase in the number of German tourists visiting Turkey's Aegean region, Oger said Formula-1 races would also add colour to this region.
''Germans used to come mostly to Antalya region. We made a lot of investments in Antalya in the last decade, now it's time to focus on the Aegean,'' he said.
He remarked that Sept. 11 attacks and switching to Euro negatively affected the tourism activity all over the world but Turkey wasn't significantly affected by this. Tourism activities dropped by 40 percent in Spain and 30 percent in Greece last year.
Oger also said that the prices in Turkey were at a reasonable level compared to countries using Euro and this was an advantage for Turkey.
