SCHILY SAYS PKK PROHIBITION IS ALSO VALID FOR KADEK
German Interior Minister Schily said that the prohibition valid for the activities of terrorist organization PKK would also be valid for KADEK, the new name of PKK. Schily said that the organization of Islamic Community-Denominational Vision didn't only try to bring sharia order in Turkey, but also in Germany.

SEZER:EU IS TARGET BEYOND PARTIES
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer who completed his visit to Albania said that Turkey's EU membership target has been adopted by the society, giving the message to political parties that ''EU issue should not be used as a political tool, the EU target should be an issue that is beyond political parties.'' Sezer who said that he would hold a meeting with coalition government in order not to miss the EU train, added that the summit meeting would be held on June 7 or in the second week of June at the Presidential Residence. The state officials will try to form a common point of view about EU at the meeting in order to prevent Turkey's being isolated from EU enlargement process.

DANGER IN MEAT AND MILK
A research which has been conducted by Istanbul University Veterinary
Faculty has shown that the lack of inspection in agricultural sector is also seen in animal husbandry sector. It has been found out that 20 percent of the meat and meat products sold in Istanbul were hormone treated and ten percent of milk had antibiotic substances in it. Istanbul University Deputy Dean Prof. Nazlý said that the medicine used in animal husbandry is the cause of the increase in cancer patients recently.

SEZER'S SUMMIT NOT TO BE EASY
The coalition government seems to have different views about EU issues that will be taken up during the summit meeting that is expected to be held upon the initiative of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) does not want to accept the reforms that are necessary to be taken for Turkey's EU membership. MHP leader Bahceli gave the message before the meeting that MHP's stance about broadcast in mother tongue and abolishment of death penalty would not change.

KOC SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH ITALIAN BANK
The Koc Group signed a partnership agreement with Europe's most powerful bank Unicredito Italiano SPA yesterday in Milan. The agreement which was signed 50 to 50 percent between the Koc Group and the Italian Bank, signaled that the Koc Holding will obtain a stronger place in the finance sector. Unicredito is one of Europe's biggest banks with its 23 billion USD market value. As of end of 2001, the bank's total deposits was 113 billion USD.

TASAR RETURNS FROM U.S.A SATISFIED WITH HIS CONTACTS
Tourism Minister Musfafa Tasar has said that Turkey was not affected by the tourism crisis all over the world caused by Sept.11 attacks by a number of promotional campaigns and following a professional approach. Tasar returned home on Friday after wrapping up his contacts in Canada and the United States. Tasar said that last yeara, despite the Sept. 11 attacks, 430,000 American tourists visited Turkey. Tasar also indicated that while several European countries decreased their tourism budget, Turkey increased its tourism expenditures 50 percent.

ERDOGAN:''I MIGHT HAVE ONE MILLION USD, BUT NOT IN CASH''
Responding to allegations about his financial assets, Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that ''he might have one million USD, but not in cash.'' Erdogan was interrogated yesterday by Ankara Acting Chief Prosecutor Bekir Selcuk. After staying in Selcuk's room for an hour, Erdogan told reporters that an unidentified person claimed that he was a partner of a textile factory owned by Albayraklar company in Konya Eregli and he said this was untrue. Ergodan wanted to start an investigation about the unidentified person who made this claim.
