ISTANBUL (A.A) - 22.05.2002 - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Wednesday that the positive developments recorded recently show that the negative atmosphere on Turkish economy starts to disperse and gives hope about the success of the steps taken to strengthen the economy.
Sending a written message to the opening of the 27th annual conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), Sezer said that the success of countries in economic field play a determining role in the international arena.
''Turkey is resolved to benefit from the opportunities caused by globalization, to open to the world with a transparent economic policy, to integrate with the international economy and to increase its competition power. The resolved steps and comprehensive measures taken following the economic problems in the country, has formed the necessary atmosphere for the Turkish economy to reconstruct,'' Sezer noted in his message.
Sezer said that Turkey will get the place it deserves in the international arena in respect of competition soon, adding that Turkey gives great importance to the economic programme in respect of privatization.
Sezer said that foreign capital investments contribute significantly to the economic growth and improvement of competition, adding that ''the Turkish economy presents favourable conditions for foreign investors.''
Sezer added that the holding of IOSCO Conference in Eurasia in Istanbul which is a big industry, trade and financial centre is important, adding that ''we believe that the conference will serve the promotion of our country and serve understanding better the possibilities presented by Turkey to foreign investors.''
