Rumsfeld: U.S. Is Making Deliberations With Turkey On A Document About Transfer Of Isaf's Command

WASHINGTON D.C. (A.A) - 22.05.2002 - U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Wednesday that the United States was making deliberations with Turkey on a document about the transfer of the command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan to Turkey.
Rumsfeld, speaking at a meeting in the Senate, said that the United States would extend more assistance to Turkey's ISAF command than it had extended during Britain's command.
The United States had made a commitment to provide logistic and communicative support and, intelligence assistance related with ISAF and to rush for help when ISAF faced a problem, Rumsfeld noted.
Rumsfeld stated that the United States was supporting a conference which would ensure collection of necessary money for Turkey's taking over the command of ISAF.
