PARIS (A.A) - 15.05.2002 - State Minister Kemal Dervis for Economy said on Wednesday that the macro balances in the Turkish economy had been settled.
Speaking at the OECD Council of Ministers' luncheon, Dervis said that Turkey was going through a difficult period but the tough days had been left behind.
Stressing that interest rates had decreased, Dervis said that the non-interest budget surplus figures had shown a progress better than the expected.
Dervis emphasized that transparency in the economy was very important.
Meanwhile, the first session started after the luncheon.
On the first day of the Council of Ministers, meetings on ''economic developments: how can global growth be accelerated and supported'', ''settlement of transparency and unity in international economy'', ''OECD's mission and responsibilities'' will be held.
State Minister Dervis will return to Turkey after holding a press conference on his contacts at the OECD.
