Bahceli In Baku

BAKU (A.A) - 06.05.2002 - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli arrived in Azerbaijani capital Baku.
Bahceli, who is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan as the guest of Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev, told reporters that he was pleased to visit Azerbaijan and meet with his friends.
Deputy Prime Minister Bahceli is being accompanied by State Minister Resat Dogru, National Defense Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu and Health Minister Osman Durmus.
The delegation headed by Bahceli will start their three-day contacts in Azerbaijan by visiting the Martyrdom Memorial.
CONTACTS OF BAHCELI IN BAKU
Parliament Speaker Murtuz Aleskerov of Azerbaijan received on Monday State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli.
Speaking at the meeting, Aleskerov said that Turkey had always been supporting Azerbaijan in every field.
Expressing his pleasure with hosting Bahceli and accompanying delegation in Baku, Aleskerov emphasized that such mutual visits would make a valuable contribution to further improvement of relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, Bahceli said in his part, ''Turkey can assist Azerbaijan in its development process. Development of Turkish and Azerbaijani economies can be accelerated through cooperation between the two countries. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum natural gas pipeline projects are the examples of this cooperation. These projects will make significant contributions to our countries.''
Bahceli underlined importance of increasing high-level visits and inter-parliamentary relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan in strengthening bilateral relations.
Later, Bahceli and accompanying delegation met with members of the Parliamentary Permanent Commission.
Issues such as language and alphabet reforms in Azerbaijan, protection of cultural assets and mutual opening of cultural centers in Turkey and Azerbaijan were taken up at the meeting.
Bahceli is scheduled to partake in a dinner to be hosted in his honor by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade of Azerbaijan later in the day.
