ANKARA (A.A) - 05.05.2002 - Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit was discharged from Baskent University on Sunday.
Ecevit said he was fine, adding that ''it won't affect my performance, everybody has such temporary diseases.''
Speaking to reporters when he was leaving the hospital, Ecevit thanked citizens and journalists for their concern in his health.
Ecevit said that there was a problem in his intestine and it would end within few days as it was not serious problem. ''There is nothing to be worried about,'' Ecevit told reporters.
''I might have to stay at home for a few days but I will certainly continue working even at home,'' Ecevit said and added that he was feeling very well.
When asked if he was going to postpone his trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan which was scheduled for the end of this month, Ecevit said ''We haven't talked about that but I don't think there's any reason for me to postpone.''
Ecevit said his performance as a prime minister would not be affected by this incident. ''Everyone once in a while gets ill like this,'' he said.
A group of people applauded Ecevit as he left the hospital. Several tv channels broadcast his discharge from the hospital live.
From the hospital, Ecevit went to his residence in Oran.
