Easter Mass Held In Fener Greek Patriarchate In Istanbul

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 05.05.2002 - Easter mass was held at the cathedral of St. George which is in the garden of Fener Greek Patriarchate in Istanbul on Saturday evening for Easter, which is celebrated as the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
The mass continued for nearly 2,5 hours and it was conducted by Fener Greek Patriarch Bartholomeos.
Many visitors from Greece, Romania, European countries, and from other parts of the world attended the mass.
GREEK CYPRIOTS IN TRNC CELEBRATE EASTER
Greek Cypriots living in Dipkarpaz and Sipahi villages held an Easter mass at the churches on Sunday. Prayers were said at wine and bread ceremonies (communion).
Besides the Greek Cypriots living here, about 55 other Greek Cypriots came from the Southern Cyprus to visit their relatives.
TRNC Foreign and Defence Ministry sent Greek Cypriots a message, flowers and sweets. The ministry's message was conveyed to Priest Zahariyas Yorgo by Iskele Head Official Mustafa Tamer. Priest Yorgo, Dipkarpaz Greek Cypriot Head Official Andread Tanis and Sipahi Head Official Savas Liyazi thanked the ministry for this gesture.
