BRUSSELS (A.A) - 30.04.2002 - Several speculations are being made in Brussels on Tuesday after EU Committee of Permanent Representatives Council (COREPER) decided on the terrorist organizations that will be added to the EU's list of terrorist organizations on Monday.
Reliable sources had told the press that COREPAR greenlighted the inclusion of PKK in the list of terrorist organizations.
PKK, on Tuesday morning, made a statement by the name of Kurdistan Freedom and Democracy Congress (KADEK) and threatened the EU.
Through Monday's decision, COREPER started a ''period of silence'', a method often used in NATO but an unusual one for the EU. According to this process, if none of the 15 EU member countries objects to the list until Thursday, the new list will be officially accepted and it will be approved at the monthly meeting of the EU Council on May 13, 2002 without being debated. Turkey will be officially informed about the new list on Thursday.
Belgian diplomats who are not directly related to the EU said that terrorist organization DHKP-C would also be included in the list although EU countries' spokesmen do not confirm this information. EU Term President Spain's officials said they cannot make any comment on this issue.
DHKP-C's supporters said they don't ''care'' about these news. ''We haven't received any official information. This is our only statement,'' they said.
Turkish diplomats in Brussels said that Turkey should be cautious and wait until Thursday.
During the ''period of silence'', some names of terrorist organizations could be taken out of the list but it was not possible to add any names.
Officials confirmed that Palestinian People's Salvation Front, organizations related to ETTA, some Arabic terrorist organizations were also added to the list with PKK.
