ANKARA (A.A) - 29.04.2002 - Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit has said that his government had accomplished many things that they promised people and therefore he was proud of these achievements.
''Now, what is important is that people should start feeling these improvements in their lives and I believe this will happen in the coming days,'' he said when he had a meeting with a group of Democratic Left Party (DSP) deputies on Monday afternoon at the DSP Headquarters.
After a two-hour meeting, Ecevit told reporters that during today's coaliton party leaders' meeting, they chiefly discussed the major problems of the public sector and what measures should be taken to remove these problems.
''We're not fast enough in certain important areas. At today's meeting, we focused on what measures we should take in order to make our public administration more efficient,'' Ecevit said.
Stating that his government would be three years old in May, Ecevit said ''There's no reason to talk about elections. Many things have been accomplished during the administration of the current governemnt. I recently took a look at the Government Protocol and saw that we promised many things and we fulfilled our promises. I'm really proud.''
When asked to comment on the Amnesty Bill and the reluctance he earlier expressed over this bill, Ecevit said ''As a man of law, Justice Minister Hikmet Sami Turk provided you with detailed information and he said most of people's worries about this bill have been eased.''
