EU WILL INCLUDE PKK INTO THE LIST OF TERRORISTS
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz said European Union (EU) will include PKK and DHKP-C into the list of terrorist organizations by the end of this week the latest.
Yilmaz said ambassadors of the EU member countries would review the list of terrorist organizations and compensate their mistakes.

DERVIS: OUR FRIENDSHIP WITH GREECE SHOULD BE AN EXAMPLE TO THE MIDDLE EAST
State Minister Responsible for Economy Kemal Dervis, who completed contacts in Salonica on Monday, said relations between Turkey and Greece should be taken as example in such a period when problems are experienced in the Middle East.
Dervis pointed out the importance of friendship and solidarity, and noted that, ''not only the two nations, but also the people of the whole region will benefit from this.''

THEY COVER WITH ASTONISHMENT
The World Bank warned Ankara harshly after seeing that Turkey, who often called for ''urgent quake credit'', did not implement any project properly.
The World Bank lately accepted to give 700 million U.S. dollars credit to Turkey to strengthen hospitals, schools, bridges and viaducts in Istanbul. However, the World Bank acts cautiously this time acting on its previous experiences.
The World Bank puts activation of Emergency Situation Administration General Directorate as precondition. The Bank wants completion of Disaster Administration Project. The project in question will reveal which structures should be strengthened.

PRICES OF NATURAL GAS CAN BE REDUCED
Gokhan Bildaci, the Director General of state-run oil pipeline company (BOTAS), said on Monday that they may reduce natural gas prices in May.
Bildaci said talks were underway with Russia and Iran to reduce natural gas purchase prices, noting that this will be reflected to the prices in Turkey in case positive results are obtained from the talks.
Bildaci said during the talks they also launch initiatives to decrease purchasing amounts of natural gas.

TURNING POINT IN TURKEY-EU RELATIONS
Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yýlmaz said in Brussels yesterday that the European Union (EU) would take terrorist organizations PKK and DHKP/C to its list of terrorist organizations. Yýlmaz stressed that the European Union was expected to announce its decision on Friday about the two terrorist organizations which target Turkey. ''The impression I got in Brussels is that the EU would compensate the mistake it did by not including PKK and DHKP/C to its list of terrorist organizations,'' Yýlmaz said.

BILL WHICH RESTRICTS DEATH PENALTY SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT
The bill related to ''abolishment of death penalty'' within the limits envisaged by the Constitution and turning it into life imprisonment, was submitted to Parliament Speaker's Office yesterday. The bill turns capital punishment into life imprisonment except from cases of terrorism crimes, in cases of war and threat of war.

BLOW ON EDUCATION, SUPPORT TO MOSQUE
Reduction given to electricity consumption in schools will be removed, however, the costs of the places of worship will be met by allocations that would be put to the budget of Department of Religious Affairs.
The decree, which was opened to signature in Council of Ministers, decides to give electricity free of charge for one more year to the mosques, and the reducation was foreseen to be lifted on December 31 in schools and hospitals.

BAHCELI: WE HAVE RECORDED IMPORTANT PROGRESS
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli said that even if the biased attitude within EU towards Turkey overshadowed the bilateral relations, Turkey recorded significant progress in abiding with European standards.
The Science and Technology Higher Council convened at Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under the leadership of Bahceli the same day to discuss Turkey's joining EU Science and Technology Sixth Frame Programme.

SIGNS OF ECONOMIC REVIVAL SEEN
Finance Minister Sumer Oral said that the tax incomes increased by 81 percent and Value Added Tax (VAT) allocations increased by 145 percent in March 2002. ''This is the sign of revival in economy,'' Oral said. Meanwhile, Koc Holding official Ozdemir who is in charge of marketing and sale of durable goods said that the sale in durable goods was fine. ''Our production capacity is full,'' he stressed.

PEACE ON THE WAY WITH GREECE
Here is the result of State Minister Kemal Dervis's visit to Greece: Train trips will start between Salonica, Greece and Istanbul, Turkey and ferry trips between Salonica and Izmir. The Turkish-Greek Express is expected to be named as ''Peace Train.'' Dervis said in his contacts in Greece that the transportation network between Turkey and Greece has to be developed in order to further improve the commercial relations.

TASAR:''TURKEY DOES NOT GET MUCH FROM TOURISM''
Tourism Minister Mustafa Tasar said that Turkey only gets 8,5 billion dollars from the 500 billion dollars of tourism revenue in the world. ''I can't accept Turkey's earning so less from tourism,'' said Tasar and noted that his ministry launches great efforts to increase the share Turkey gets from this tourism cake in the world.

PARLIAMENT POSTPONES DISCUSSING LOCAL ADMINISTRATIONS LAW
The parliamentary planning and budget commission postponed the discussion of the Local Administrations Bill, which was expected to be taken up by the parliament today to a later date. The commission took this decision as the Council of Ministers decided to set up a commission under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Husamettin Ozkan to review the financial structure of Directorat General Provincial Bank and to turn it into a healthy organization.

BROTHERS DID NOT COME TO THE ISLAM COUNCIL IN CYPRUS
The 5th Eurasian Islam Council started in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Religious representatives of Russia, Daghestan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgzstan, and Uzbekistan did not attend the meeting with the pretext that their countries did not recognize the TRNC. Works of the Council will last for five days.

PRESIDENT SEZER IN LATVIA
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, currently in Latvia as the official guest of Latvian President Vaira Vike Freiberga, pointed out that Turkey would need the votes of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, who are expected to be members of the European Union (EU) before Turkey.
Sezer said his contacts were positive, noting that they reached a consensus of opinion regarding the improvement of cultural, military, econmic and trade relations.
