LUXEMBOURG (A.A) - 16.04.2002 - The European Investment Bank (EIB) welcomed the opinion of construction of a Turkish-Greek joint natural gas pipeliene, sources said on Tuesday.
Sources said that the issue had been discussed during Foreign Minister Ismail Cem's meeting with (EIB) Managing Director Philippe Maystaatt, and that EIB's support to the project might be in question.
The bank was also closely interested in the UIstanbyul Strait sub-tunnel project, they said.
Sources said that Cem had asked support for Turkey's making use of private sector projects among the pre-accession projects with the EU.
Cem who wrapped up his contacts in Luxembourg will return to Turkey on Wednesday via Brussels.
