First Group Of Chinese Tourists To Come To Turkey

ANTALYA (A.A) - 11.04.2002 - The first ''official'' group of Chinese tourists will come Turkey to spend their holidays on April 28 after China declared Turkey as ''official holiday destination.''
Aristo Tour Executive Board Chairperson Sema Bakacak told A.A correspondent on Thursday that China had announced Turkey as official holiday destination and stated that this decision would be put into effect on May 1, 2002.
Stating that the ban on the advertisements related to organizing tours to Turkey was lifted in China, Bakacak said that their advertisements were published in seven separate newspapers in China.
Bakacak noted that after their advertisements, a group of 78 Chinese tourists would come to Istanbul on April 28.
Bakacak said that they would take the Chinese tourists also to Izmir, Kusadasi, Efes and Pamukkale as well as Istanbul.
She stated that Chinese group would return to China on May 7.
Bakacak said that the other companies would also bring Chinese tourists to Turkey due to May 1 Workers' Day, adding that around 1,000 Chinese people would spend their holidays in Turkey for a week.
Sema Bakacak added, ''50 or 100 thousand Chinese tourists will come to Turkey this year. If we make better promotion and advertisement campaigns in Chinese market, we can bring 300 or 400 thousand Chinese tourists from China to Turkey five years later.''
