DERVIS:''HEALTHY ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT BEING FORMED IN TURKEY''
State Minister Kemal Dervis has said that the inflation has been decreasing since February helping to form a healthy economic environment. In a written statement he made about March inflation figures on Wednesday, Dervis said that the increase in the consumer prices (TUFE) has been the lowest since 1987 and the increase in wholesale prices (TEFE) as the lowest since 1981. This means that Turkey lived the cheapest March in the last 21 years.

TURKEY STARTS COUNTER ATTACK AGAINST ARMENIAN ALLEGATIONS
Turkey has been closely following on the Armenian diaspora's allegations of the so-called Armenians genocide and their planned activities for April. The Armenians are planning to carry out a number of activities on April 24, on the 87th anniversary of the so-called genocide. Armenian insitution ANCA will hold a commemoration meeting on April 17 in Washington DC. ANCA is also getting ready to file a suit against Turkey at the legal office called Life in New York.

LIFE STARTS
Cem Boyner, the owner of shopping centers like Beymen, Benetton and Carsi, confirmed the revival in shopping. The important decrease in rate of inflation made the markets pleasing.
Boyner said, ''confidence of the customer is gradually restored again. Market conditions of an almost normal year is revealed.''

PLANE IS READY FOR BAYIK
General Staff keeps a plane ready for PKK's high level administrator Cemil Bayik who was taken under custody by Iran.
Exradition process continues for Cemil Bayik, his two body guards and Halil Atac. General Staf prepared a team and a plane for the tradition of Bayik.

TWO JACUZZIS FOR PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
While renovating the Presidential Palace, the Sezers also refurnished their bathroom. Sinks, toilet seats, armatures and tiles were changed. They also purchased two jacuzzis produced by latest technology and a steam bath from the famous Italian brans, Albatros. One of the two jacuzzis which were designed for two people was placed in the Sezers' bathroom and the other one was installed in the guest bathroom. The Sezers paid a total of 18 billion TL (28,000 USD) for the two jacuzzis and the steam bath before the economic crisis.

VIOLENCE AT SCHOOL
13-year old Kadir Kayar who was beaten up by his three friends at Istanbul's Bagcilar Tiryaki Hasan Pasa Elementary School died of a brain hemorrage at hospital. Kayar's friends were released after they were interrogated by the Prosecutor's Office. Kayar's sister Gulsah Kayar who saw her brother beaten up by his friends asked for help from other students who didn't interfere with the fight. She later rushed to the school administration and saved her brother. However, Kadir got sick after he entered the class and he was hospitalized. He died in the hospital.

PRESIDENT SEZER: EU IS NOT THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said membership to the European Union (EU) was one of the alternatives to which the multi-lateral foreign policy was directed. Sezer said, ''our direction to the EU is not an obstacle for us to develop realistic policies in line with out national interests.''
Sezer underlined that there would be no bargaining with the terrorist PKK organization which aims to get a new structure.

BAYIK PROBLEM WITH IRAN
Iranian Embassy in Ankara said the news reports which appeared in Turkish media regarded with Cemil Bayik were ''products of imagination'' and were ''baseless''. Meanwhile, Turkey's Embassy in Tehran said they have official reports that Bayik was on Iranian territory, and that they launched initiatives for the extradition of Bayik.
Bayik's proceeding to Iran to flee to Europe together with 1.4 million U.S. dollars was leaked to Turkey by Osman Ocalan through the Kurdish groups in Northern Iraq.

OFFICIAL REQUEST FOR BAYIK
Turkey requested Iran to extradite Cemil Bayik, a top member of the terrorist organization PKK, to Turkey upon the news that he was taken into custody in Iran. Ankara took action upon the news that Bayik was arrested in Urumiyeh city of Iran. Turkey's Ambassador Selahattin Alpar in Tehran said that they had launched an official initiative in the Iranian authorities regarding Cemil Bayik. It was reported that a military plane is being kept to take Bayik in Etimesgut Airport in Ankara. Alpar stating that the relations were developed positively between Turkey and Iran, said, ''the cooperation is progressing especially on security.''

KARZAI TO COME TO TURKEY
Afghanistan's interim administration leader Hamid Karzai will come to Ankara on Thursday on a two-day official visit as the official guest of Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit. The Prime Ministry Press Center said that exchange of opinion would be made on the latest developments in Afghanistan and fields of cooperation between the two countries during the interdelegationary meeting that would be presided by Ecevit and Karzai. Karzai will be received by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

WHAT WILL SCHOOLS' SITUATION BE?
The reports which were prepared as the result of the examinations that were conducted in the schools in Istanbul after 1999 eartquake said that 354 schools should be repaired immediately; otherwise, they can collapse in a possible quake. However, the ministry doesn't send 80 trillion Turkish lira for the repair of the schools with the reason that there is no appropriation.

CILLER: MASTER PLAN IS NECESSARY
True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller criticized Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit's statement related to the autonomous institutions and said, ''Prime Minister, if you can not govern the country, please listen carefully people's prayers.'' Ciller said at her party group meeting that they received information about quake during her visit to Kandilli observatory and Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Ciller stating that an earthquake measuring 7 or over on the Richter scale was expected with 60 percent possibility in Istanbul in 30 years, added, ''science and policy should be brought together on that issue.''

250 THOUSAND LIRA COINS TO BE PUT INTO CIRCULATION
The new 250 thousand Turkish lira (TL) coins will be put into circulation today. According to the Treasury Undersecretariat's notice in the Official Gazette, the Mint and Seal Printing Office Directorate General coined 250 thousand TL. 65 percent of the new 250 thousand TL coin which is 6.4 grams in weight and 2 milimeters in thickness is made of copper, 18 percent of it is made of nickel and 17 percent of it is made of zinc.
