BURSA (A.A) - 02.04.2002 - The exports from automotive sector, which has directed towards foreign markets due to the economic crisis, increased by 22.9 percent in March of 2002.
The exports of motor vehicles and automotive products reduced by 1.5 percent in January and decreased by 2.9 percent in February.
Uludag Exporters' Unions (UIB) told the A.A on Tuesday that the exports from automotive sector reached 386,214 million U.S. dollars in March 2002. In the same month last year, the export was 314,120 million U.S. dollars.
The exports of motor vehicles and automotive products increased by 6.01 percent in January-March period of 2002.
The sector exported 898,995 million U.S. dollars of products in the first quarter last year, and the sector increased export to 953,684 milion U.S. dollars in the same period of 2002.
The export of by-industry was ranked first with 411,355 million U.S. dollars although there was a 3.7 percent decrease in the export of by-industry in January-March 2002 when compared to the same period of last year.
The automotive sector exported products to 10 free zones, 142 countries and autonomous regions in the first quarter of 2002.
Germany was ranked first with 175,375 million U.S. dollars among the countries which the sector exported the products. Italy, France and Britain followed Germany.
The sector exported the goods for the first time to Dominican Republic, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Benin, Burkina Faso, Jamaica, Kongo, Republic of Dagestan, Vatican, Liberia, Uruguay, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kambodia, Honduras Swan Islands, Mayotte, Tatarstan, Zimbabwe, Equador and Bursa Free Zone.
