ANKARA (A.A) - 02.04.2002 - Deputy Parliament Speaker Murat Sokmenoglu said on Tuesday that he harshly condemned statement of American political commentator Dick Morris who said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had purchased Turkey for them.
Speaking at the Parliamentary General Assembly, Sokmenoglu said, ''Dick Morris said that they did not need Arabs to launch a military operation against Iraq. He also said that they could do anything from Turkey. His words went beyond his purpose. A response should be given as soon as possible to his claims. Because he is not an ordinary person. He has served as political adviser of former U.S. President Bill Clinton for long years. His statement has revealed that he knew nothing about Turkey and Turks.''
''I protest owner of this disrespectful statement. I call on him to be respectful to independent Republic of Turkey that has rejected mandate and patronage from the very beginning,'' he added.
