HASKOY/TATVAN (A.A) - 02.04.2002 - Security forces captured on Tuesday 61 foreigners who entered the country illegally in Haskoy township of southern Mus province, and 76 Iraqis who also entered the country through illegal ways in Tatvan township of southern Bitlis province.
Gendarmerie teams caught 31 Afghans and 30 Iraqis, who were hiding in a truck, during the controls near Gokyazi village of Haskoy township.
Gendarmerie teams patrolling around Elemanhan region in Bitlis province had warned 50 Iraqis to stop during an operation. Later, they abided by the warning and surrendered.
Meanwhile, police also captured 26 Iraqis who entered the country illegally during in another control near Kucuksu village of Tatvan township.
Officials said that the investigation was under way and added that the foreigners would be deported once the legal proceedings were over.
