ANKARA (A.A) - 31.03.2002 - Felicitiy Party (SP) leader Recai Kutan paid a visit of support to Palestinian Embassy in Ankara on Sunday, and met with Fouad Yaseen.
Speaking at the meeting, Kutan said, ''Israel has started an attempt of genocide against Palestinian people.''
He criticized the United States' statements in favor of Israel.
Noting that a considerable part of existing territories of Palestine had been under occupation, Kutan said, ''if the United States, the United Nations and other countries are searching terrorists, they do not need to search any more. Terrorism is just inside Israeli state.''
Kutan called on U.S. President George W. Bush and the U.S. administration to assume an urgent attitude against such a shameful genocide against Palestinian people.
Pointing out that Turkish people shared the pain and grief of Palestinian people, Kutan said that acts of violence should come to an end, and peace should be settled in the region.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Ambassador Yaseen expressed his pleasure with seeing Kutan and accompanying delegation at the Palestinian Embassy.
Noting that Palestinian President Arafat had still been under siege, Yaseen said that President Arafat was aware of support extended to him by Turkish people, and thanked Kutan.
Noting that genocide was being committed on Palestinian people, Yaseen said that the United Nations had been formed to secure peace and tranquility in the world and it should serve this goal.
Stating that U.S. President George W. Bush was implementing completely the opposite of the policies of his father who had been the U.S. President during the Gulf War, Yaseen said that father Bush had acted like an envoy to settle peace in the region during the Gulf War.
Noting that the world knew that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had started a genocide in the region but the United States turned a blind eye toward this genocide, Yaseen said, ''Bush should know that the biggest terrorist in the region is Sharon himself.''
Stating that Sharon who was now 74 years old had spent his 60 years by massacring Palestinian people, Yaseen said that U.S. President Bush was trying to ''show Israel as a democratic country''.
Noting that they would continue to shield with their own bodies until the last standing person in order to live in a way they believed, Yaseen said, ''if the United States had wanted it, it could have stopped this genocide in the very beginning. Arafat is the person that zionism wants to destroy by using its all power while genocide is continuing. They have a single target: destroying Arafat...I think that two points should become clear. If you destroy Arafat, he will be a hero. If you kill Arafat, there will be millions of Arafats fighting against you.''
