ANKARA (A.A) - 31.03.2002 - A total of four Turkish journalists who had been kept under detention by Israeli security forces, were allowed to leave the building in Ramallah late on Saturday.
Officials at Turkish Consulate General in Jerusalem told the A.A correspondent on the phone that journalists were taken out of Palestinian Media Center by an armoured vehicle.
Journalists were brought to a check point where Huseyin Avni Bicakci, the Turkish Consul General in Jerusalem, was waiting them, sources said.
Mete Cubukcu and Mustafa Sap from private Star TV channel, and Burak Ersemiz and Talip Alpogan from private ATV channel had been kept under detention at the Palestinian Medie Center since Friday night.
Bicakci and Ahmet Uzumcu, the Turkish Ambassador to Israel, had launched intense initiatives for release of Turkish journalists who have been in the region to cover the developments.
