Turkey Warns Italy That 15,000 Illegal Immigrants To Come To Italy

ROME (A.A) - 29.03.2002 - Security Department General Directorate Foreigners Passport and Border Department Chairman Mehmet Terzioglu said Friday that they got a tip off that more than 15 ships, carrying approximately 15,000 illegal immigrants, would go to Italy with great possibility.
Speaking to Italian official news agency Ansa, Terzoglu said the ships waited at the Suez Canal, or they were about to pass the canal.
Terzioglu said Turkey exerted every kind of effort to prevent human smuggling.
