P.K.K. Cannot Escape From The U.S. By Changing Its Name

WASHINGTON, D.C. (A.A) - 28.03.2002 - The U.S. State Department has said that the PKK cannot escape from being monitored by the United States by changing its name.
State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters that terrorist organizations change their names for different purposes adding that U.S. officials are closely monitoring these developments. He said his country would not allow terrorist to have certain advantages by doing things like changing their names.
He said that the State Department and the Treasury were keeping the names of terrorist groups and the Treasury was trying to prevent these groups to collect money under new names.
Terrorist organization PKK has been on the list of terrorist organizations of the U.S. State Department for many years. Another Turkish origin terrorist organization Dev-Sol was also included in the list under its new name DHKP-C.
Groups which are declared as terrorist, cannot have any legal activity in the United States. They cannot have bank accounts or collect donations.
