ANKARA, March 26 (A.A) - Hamid Karzai, the leader of the interim government in Afghanistan will pay a visit to Turkey this week.
Diplomatic sources said on Tuesday that Karzai will come to Ankara for his first official visit on March 28, Thursday.
Karzai will leave Turkey on March 29.
The sources noted that the Afghan officials first thought to postpone the visit due to the quake disaster that took place in Afghanistan, but later an agreement was reached with Afghan officials for the visit to take place due to the attempts of the Turkish Embassy in Kabul.
Karzai will meet with Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and Foreign Minister Ismail Cem. Karzai will also be received by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
The developments about the command of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, Turkey's contributions to Afghan army and economy, humanitarian and educational assistance and regional issues are expected to be taken up during Karzai's contacts.
Karzai is also expected to visit 20 Afghan diplomats who are trained in Ankara to help the formation of Afghanistan's world policy vision, in order to get information about their training.
The date of Karzai's visit to Turkey which was earlier planned to take place on March 21 was postponed due to Nevruz celebrations.
Foreign news agencies announced today that the visit of Karzai was delayed due to the quake disaster in Afghanistan.
