GERMAN YOUNGSTERS TO BE BROUGHT TO TURKEY
According to a social programme financed by the German Labour Department, racist German young persons particularly from eastern Germany and Turkish youngsters will undergo training in factories and business places in Turkey. The aim of the project is to make the German young persons understand the difficulties of living in a foreign country. Turkish youngsters will help Germans and the programme aims to make them friends and understand each other.
GREEK ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION OPENS IN ANKARA
The Exhibition of ''Greek Architecture of the 20th Century'' has been opened in Ankara, Turkey. A total of 113 projects are displayed in the exhibition which was organized by the Middle East Technical University and Istanbul Technical University. The exhibition will be opened in Istanbul on April 18.

DOGAN HOLDING TO LEAP FORWARD IN 2002
Imre Barmanbek, the General Coordinator of Dogan Holding said that the holding would enlarge in 2002. ''We can invest in gas sector,'' she noted.
''We took important saving measures in 2001, we strengthened our capital structure. Unfortunately we decreased the employment by 16 percent,'' she said.
IRANIAN AMBASSADOR SAYS IRAN COOPERATES WITH TURKEY FOR IRAQ
Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Muhammad Hussein Lavasani told the paper that Turkey and Iran made cooperation at all levels for protection of the territorial integrity of Iraq. Lavasani stressed that he was not surprised by the words of National Security Secretary General Gen. Tuncer Kýlýnc who had said that Turkey could make cooperation Iran as an alternative to EU, noting that ''we were not surprised as the bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran recently developed so much.''

YALMAN FROM SP ASKS SEZER HOW HE PAID FOR HIS VILLA WORTH OF 250
BILLION TL
Felicity Party (SP) deputy Yalman presented a written question to Parliament consisted of 13 points and asked Sezer to explain how he bought his four-storey villa worth of 250 million TL in Ankara's Golbasi district. Yalman asked how the Sezers how they managed to buy this property while paying for the education of three children. Sezer in response is saying that they bought the villa though his personal savings.
VERHEUGEN:''YOUR EU MEMBERSHIP WILL BE IN RISK''
EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen who recently visited Athens for two days made a number of striking statements about Turkey's EU membership. Verheugen said that Cyprus would successfully complete membership talks with the EU before the end of this year and asked Turkey not to threaten the EU about the Greek Cypriot's EU membership. ''As the EU, we want Cyprus to join the EU after a political solution is reached. Cyprus is not two separate states. We want a single Cyprus with an international identity,'' he said and added that the Greek Cypriot Administration could join the EU even a solutio

COALITION PARTNERS ARE NOT IN HARMONY
The coalition parties don't seem to be in harmony. Although the parliamentary commissions adopted rapidly the second adjustment bill, which is in the scope of the short term commitments of Turkey covered by its national programme, could not be adopted by the parliament. The government which has 334 deputies in the parliament could not get the sufficient seats in the parliamentary session held to discuss the bill. Deputies of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) accused Motherland Party (ANAP) deputies of not attending the parliamentary sessions.
VERHEUGEN MAKES TURKEY ANGRY
Foreign Ministry reacted to the words of EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen. Verheugen had considered the statements of Turkey about Cyprus as ''threat'' in Athens and claimed that the EU was not affected by these threats. Foreign Ministry will give an official response after examining the expressions of Verheugen in the news conference he had with Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis.

YILMAZ:''OUR PRIORITY IS THE ADJUSTMENT PACKAGE''
State Minister Mesut Yilmaz who attended the European Convention's meeting in Brussels said on Friday that Turkey had to reach its short term goals in order to start membership negotiations with the EU. Therefore, he said the adjustment package which will be approved next Wednesday was of significant importance.
ERDOGAN'S NIGHTMARE IS OVER
The Council of State which earlier cancelled the investigation against Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Tayyip Erdogan who was accused of setting up a gang, also rejected Council of State Chief Prosecutot Sabih Kanadoglu's request to review the decision. By this second decision, it has become impossible to try Erdogan or Ali Mufit Gurtuna for allegedly setting up gangs.

U.S. WANTS FLEXIBILITY IN CYPRUS
The eyes have turned to the United States when the Cyprus talks reached a stagnation point. The Greek Cypriot Administration wants Denktas to quit his thesis based on two equal and sovereign states. The Turkish Cypriot side, on the other hand, thinks that it is the Greek Cypriots' turn to make concessions and expecting good will from Greek Cypriot leader Clerides. U.S. State Department Cyprus Special Coordinator Thomas Weston will pay a two-day visit to the island and ask sides to show flexibility during the talks.
DURMUS TO GIVE CASH AND DRESS SUITS TO PEOPLE WHO QUIT SMOKING
Turkish Health Ministry has decided to join the World Health Organization's ''2002 Campaign to Quit Smoking''. As part of the campaign, Health Minister Osman Durmus announced that his ministry will give four billion TL to people who don't smoke for four weeks. He will also give free dress suits to 100,000 people who join the campaign to quit smoking.

UEFA PUNISHES AS ROMA SOCCER TEAM
AS Roma have been banned from playing their next European club match in their home stadium following the brawl after their Champions League match against Galatasaray last week, UEFA said yesterday. The Italian champions, who will have to play their next European home game at least 300 kilometres from the Olympic stadium, were fined 200,000 Swiss francs (120,300 U.S. dollars), with Turkish super league club Galatasaray fined 40,000 francs. Roma coach Fabio Capello was given a one-match touchline ban, while their Argentina striker Gabriel Batistuta was suspended for one game and both captain Francesco Totti and midfielder Francisco Lima were banned for three matches. All the suspensions apply to European games only. Any appeal against the decisions must be made by March 25.
