TASHKENT, March 23 (A.A) - An Uzbek-Turkish joint textile company set up by three Turkish companies was opened in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Saturday.
The ready to wear factory was set up under the leadership of Turkish businessman Fuat Em and by the partnership of Caglayan, Atlantic and Sedat Textile companies with a capital of 4,7 million U.S. dollars.
Tashkent Governor Rustem Shaabdurahmanov and Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan Resit Uman opened the factory in a ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Shaabdurahmanov thanked Turkey, Turkish Ambassador Uman and Turkish businessman Faut Em for opening such a factory in Uzbekistan.
Uman said in his part that the Turkish Republic has always supported the improvement of economic relations and the cooperation between the two countries, adding that opening such factories in Uzbekistan has always been encouraged by Turkey.
Turkish businessman Em said that he came to Uzbekistan in 1994 and he has exported 2,6 million t-shirts to the U.S. and Europe to date.
Em said that they would create employment for 700 workers and produce 300,000 pieces of textile products a month at Seyhantahur textile factory which is a Uzbek-Turkish joint investment.
He also indicated that they were planning to set up a weaving and fabric dying facility with a capital of 6 million USD in 2004. Through this addition, they are planning to employ 2,000 people at their facilities and produce 500,000 pieces of textile products monthly.
A Turkish chief was also brought from Turkey for the opening of the factory in order to promote Turkish cuisine in Uzbekistan.
