LEFKOSA, March 16 (A.A) - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Saturday that in his opinion, everything would come out till June.
Denktas left for southern Adana province to attend inauguration ceremony of Berke Dam.
When reporters reminded him the statement of the European Union (EU) officials ''that a progress was expected from Cyprus talks till June or July'', Denktas said, ''we said this word. I said, 'we will see then if the issue is settled till June.' I did not say 'we will settle' I said 'we will see.' We will see whether there is an issue that can be settled till June.''
Denktas noted that Cyprus question was under discussion and debate for 38 years and there was not any unknown issue.
''The Greek Cypriot administration want to own Cyprus through EU. We say 'no' to this. There is TRNC. We will enter into EU together with you if our rights and Turkey's rights under 1960 agreements are preserved and if an agreement on TRNC basis and existence of two states is made. We will say either 'yes' or 'no,'' Denktas said.
Denktas underlined that they would not be patched to the Greek Cypriot government which is known by the world as 'government of Cyprus' and said that foreign diplomats who had made wrong things for 38 years should revise their attitude.
''In my opinion, everything will come out till June. I cannot know whether things can be settled or not or whether the Greek Cypriots will change or not. If the Greek Cypriots see the realities, there are many approaches that we can make. But, they have to accept that we are a equal sovereign nation and withdraw from thoughts like all migrants will return. In our point of view, the issue is this simple. So, everybody should mind their own business,'' Denktas added.
