ANKARA, March 14 (A.A) - Turkish, U.S. and British officials met on Thursday at the Foreign Ministry to debate Turkey's taking over command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
Foreign Ministry Special Coordinator for Afghanistan Aydemir Erman is heading the Turkish delegation while the U.S. delegation presided by Special Coordinator for Afghanistan James Dobbins is comprised of Defense Department International Security Affairs Assistant Peter Rodman and Gen. Kevin Chilton from the General Staff.
The British delegation is headed by Special Envoy David Reddaway for Afghanistan while it includes officials of the Defense Ministry and Office of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
Expectations and conditions of Turkey, who is expected to take over the command of ISAF after Britain, pertaining to the issues will be discussed at the meeting.
Turkey earlier said it would be positive toward the proposal to take over the command of ISAF, yet that some conditions have to be clarified.
Turkey wants the definition of assignment, its scope, period, and quality as well as sharing of authority and financial issues to be clarified.
