Unesco To Commemorate Nazim Hikmet On World Poetry Day

PARIS, March 12 (A.A) - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will commemorate Nazim Hikmet on March 21 World Poetry Day.
Culture Minister Istemihan Talay and UNESCO Secretary General Koichiro Matsuura will host the commemoration night in French capital Paris.
A documentary film about life and works of Nazim Hikmey will be shown in the activity.
Meanwhile, prominent actor Genco Erkal will read out some poems of Nazim Hikmet.
A panel discussion will be held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ilber Ortayli and Zeynep Oral.
UNESCO declared 2002 as ''International Nazim Hikmet Year'' to mark the 100th anniversary of Nazim Hikmet's birth.
